What does an engine rebuild include?
A full engine rebuild at Leader Auto Repair includes: complete engine removal and teardown, inspection and measurement of all components, replacement of pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, and seals, timing chain or belt service, oil pump inspection, cooling system flush, reassembly to factory torque specifications, reinstallation, startup testing, and a break-in oil change. Every rebuild comes with a warranty of up to 2 years or 60,000 miles.
How long does an engine rebuild take?
A typical engine rebuild takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on the engine complexity and parts availability. High-performance engines (BMW M5 S63, Porsche 911, Mercedes AMG) may take longer due to specialized parts lead times. We give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the process.
Do you offer computer diagnostics?
Yes — we use professional-grade OBD-II diagnostic equipment compatible with all vehicle makes and models, including European brands. We read and interpret fault codes, live sensor data, and system parameters to accurately identify issues before any repair work begins.
Do you repair transmissions?
Yes. We service automatic, manual, DSG (dual-clutch), CVT, and robot transmissions. Services include fluid changes, solenoid replacement, torque converter repair, and full rebuilds depending on the extent of damage.
Do you work on hybrid vehicles?
Yes — we service hybrid vehicles including battery diagnostics, battery restoration, electric motor system inspection, and transmission adaptation. We work on Toyota, Honda, Ford, BMW, and other hybrid platforms.
Do you repair boat engines?
Yes! We specialize in Yamaha marine outboard engine repair and rebuild. Lake Bluff's proximity to Lake Michigan makes this a service we're proud to offer. If your outboard has problems starting, runs rough, or needs an overhaul, bring it in or contact us via WhatsApp.
Warranty
Do you offer a warranty on repairs?
Yes — all major repairs are backed by a warranty of 6 months to 2 years, or up to 60,000 miles, depending on the type of service. Engine rebuilds carry our longest warranty. Routine maintenance (oil changes, filters) has a standard 90-day parts warranty. We stand behind our work 100%.
What happens if a problem comes back after the repair?
If any issue covered by your warranty reappears, bring your vehicle back to us at no charge. We will diagnose and fix the problem. Our goal is not just to complete the job — it is to make sure your vehicle runs reliably for the long term.

Absolutely. European and high-performance vehicles are one of our specialties. We have direct experience with BMW M5 4.4 (S63 engine), Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.3 (M156), Porsche 911 Carrera flat-six, and more. We use professional diagnostic equipment fully compatible with European brands.
Do you work on Dodge Hemi engines?
Yes — Dodge Hemi V8 repair and rebuild is one of our core services. We work on the 5.7L, 6.1L, 6.2L Hellcat, and 6.4L 392 Hemi engines found in the Charger, Challenger, Ram 1500/2500, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and more.
